I do love almost all aspects of Japanese culture and try to be involved with it as much as possible. I have no problem admitting that I incorporate a lot of Japanese trends and traditions into my life as I modify them and make them my own. Anime is a big part of that, along with all the sub-cultures, past and present.

*Who doesn’t freak out (just a little) this time of year due to holiday stress and the need to find the perfect gift?*

truth be told, I don’t. I don’t worry about gifts (as I buy the ones for my boys throughout the year), I could care less if the decorations are up or not, doesn’t matter to me who comes to visit, and I refuse to travel. Makes for a very stress-free Christmas.

Anyhow, onto the topic at hand. Anime I want are as follows:
    Melancholy volumes 3 & 4
    AIR volumes 1-4
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World (The complete Series)

Well, me and my mom are killjoys, and we mainly just bought for ourselves this year…so we already know what we’re getting.

I got Mushishi volume 1 (manga)
    Phoenix volume 1 (mamga)

And that’s about it. I mainly got video games and need to catch up on old DVDs and manga….

And FYI, I’m 17, I’m allowed to be living with my mom :D .

Unfortunately, since graduating two years ago, Ive been off base with what is new out there. I would read Newtype magazine to get my info. But now Im poor… sigh. So I would want to finish my series’ out. Speed grafer vol 4 and on, Fma manga vol 14 and on, but especially Genshiken vol 9.

Hilarious! That letter is just great. :3

But what’s up with the picture? Are you trying to imply that manga is worse than anime??? D:

I have only a third of my shopping done, but I haven’t stressed out yet! (er, wait till the end of next week and things may change.)
What I really, really wish Santa would bring me for Christmas is the Cardcaptor Sakura second season box set: the Sakura Set. I’ve looked everywhere and have had no luck finding it. (much saddness.) If even Santa can’t find the box set, I’d be happy if he could stuff volume 7 & 8 of the Please Save My Earth manga in my stocking, tuck the Saiyuki Reload volume 6 dvd under my tree, and leave Fruits Basket: Kyo Sohma 5.6″ Polyresin Maquette sitting on the table where I kindly place his cookies and eggnog (with a hefty dash of rum).
    I’ve been good. Really.
Well, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Well, I guess for this Christmas, I would want:Princess Tutu the complete box set ^_^, Fruits Basket volume 16 (to complete my collection), and fullmetal alchemist season 2 box set!
This reminds me though of all the shopping I still have to make…

I want too much, drama con manga for my friend, fruits basket, haruhi suzumiya, claymore, and air tv boxsets….thats not even the beginning.

FLCL would be a nice read. And have read much buzz about Clannad that has perked my interest. So if Santa has found my name on the “nice” list maybe i will be reading these this Christmas!

Surprisingly, none this year. Clothing and electronics are taking precedence this year. I hope this isn’t a sign of growing up. :(

@Kidan, I’m kinda in the same boat as you in regards to not freaking out tons over the holidays-at least not anymore. The older I get, the less I fret over this kind of thing. Holidays are all about the people, for me at least.

@DKong, Hey, I should put down Mushishi, Volume One of the anime! Thanks for reminding me, in a round-about way.

@Andrew, it’s hard to keep up with all the new anime and manga, and I write an anime blog! If you want to keep up with what’s new, it might be a safe bet to just watch what’s coming out in the States (if you’re stateside now). Netflix will have you covered, if you go that route and if you subscribe to them.

@lottsy, Don’t fret over the shopping! Think gift cards to Amazon or a bookstore for all your anime buds and then you’re done.

    @Marie, it’s not too much!

@mike, hmmm, FLCL would be a good gift for someone on my gift list too…

@MK, the cruel reality of the world is that you need to be clothed before you can buy anime. It’s not a sign of growing up as much as it’s a sign that you know the difference between what you need and what you want. Perhaps some elf will heed your need for anime ^^b.
