10 Days Till Anime Central’s 10th Anniversary!

Can you believe it folks? It’s ten days till Anime Central’s 10th year! In honor of ACen’s 10 years of being the Midwest’s largest anime convention, The Anime Blog is doing a lil’ something special in ACen’s honor.

twooriginals 2006We’ll be holding a contest for all ACen attendees and we’ll even be getting all the awesome cosplayers involved this time around! To get involved with The Anime Blog’s ACen Bash, look for us at the con. Our staff members will be handing out fliers with all the details on how to enter the giveaway and how to get involved with our events.

Even if you’re not going to ACen this year, we’ve still got you covered! We’ll be doing live blogging, in depth interviews, and smoozing (we hope) with the guests. Sound like fun? Want more? If you want to get involved while we’re actually at the con, e-mail us your suggestions on who to interview, what to ask and what pics you’re dying to see. Even though we’ll be helluva busy getting the most coverage so you won’t miss a thing, we still want to hear from you! We’ll be doing our best to make you feel like you’re as much a part of the con as we are.

Count em’ down people…10 days till ACen’s 10th!!

I was exposed to anime as a child while living in Germany after watching the Japanese version of Hans Christian Anderson’s the Little Mermaid. In high school, a classmate in art brought in Akira as an example of Japanese art. I wasn’t very impressed with anime at the time, but my re-exposure to it in 2000 thanks to Escaflowne had me hooked for life. After sorting out what I liked about anime (great stories, beautiful animation and epic battles) and disliked about anime (big boobs, angst-y 15 year-old kids, most mecha, sports stories and style-over-substance), I got into it with a vengeance.I do love almost all aspects of Japanese culture and try to be involved with it as much as possible. I have no problem admitting that I incorporate a lot of Japanese trends and traditions into my life as I modify them and make them my own. Anime is a big part of that, along with all the sub-cultures, past and present.
