Anime Expo 2007: Anna Tsuchiya

Anna Tsuchiya

I was able to meet Anna Tsuchiya yesterday – it was so exciting! She’s a great actress and singer and had some really thoughtful comments during the interview. I’ll have video, more photos and details for you soon! :)

I love anime. Specifically, series involving any of the following things: weird fantasy elements, super-powers, robots, aliens, wicked humor, crazy villains, horror, ninjas and samurai. I guess that means I like a lot of anime. I am pretty particular about the quality of animation and voice acting. If the character designs and animation quality aren't of über-quality, I quickly loose interest. The first anime-related series I ever watched was Battle of the Planets - otherwise known as Gatachman. The first true theatrical anime feature film I saw was Akira. My first exposure to manga was later in life when I read Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy.There are so many incredible elements of Japanese culture. Some of the most exciting to me are the style of design and storytelling. I'm a web designer & illustrator, and I find myself looking to Japanese design for inspiration all the time.Anime blogging has taught me even more about Japanese culture and anime than I ever expected, and I continue to learn more every week. In fact, I'd love to travel to Japan. Rachel and I hope to visit sometime within the next few years.

    @Lenners

    LOL

You guys there are lucky. It’ll probably be a miracle if any Japanese singer/band will come to this Third World country of mine @_@

Anyway I’m looking forward to the photos and video. My interest in these people have been increasing, and yes it all started with NANA. :-)

Lenners – I got to put my arm around her waist, lol which I guess is even better! :) I also got this picture, which turned out kinda funny because I took it myself, which is why my head is at a funny angle lol.

Faust721 – I’m glad you got to go to the concert!

hayase – Awesome. It’s looking like the video turned out really good and I took lots of notes. There were a lot of great questions that she answered!

Hajimemashite~ First time visiting. I’m an anime fan from WUSTL.

About your topic: Tsuchiya is interesting, but she’s married and looking older everyday, which is probably why she needed a transition from catwalk to filming.

Let’s hope Ebihara Yuri will come to the States as soon as before she turns like Tsuchiya. The glamour of fashion modeling career doesn’t shine that long, we know.

  6. Chris

Ahh. She was in Taste of Tea and Memories of Matsuko. Looking forward to the video. Interview as well? Congrats, Dave!

  7. Chris

oh, and one other question. Is her voice REALLY that deep in real life?

  8. David

Dorasaga – Thanks for visiting our site and your comments!

Chris – We’ll have to check out Taste of Tea and Matsuko! And yes, her voice is deep – it’s very pleasant to listen to! You’ll be able to hear it very, very soon I promise!

David — I’d be super jealous that you got a photo, but I got a hug so I can’t complain toooo much. :)

Dorasaga — Actually, she was married and is now divorced. She’s still modeling and doing runway, too, so no.. she’s not losing her flavor. If anything, she’s doing much better!

    Rene – That’s awesome! :)

I just posted an article with YouTube video of Anna Tsuchiya’s press panel interview that I took!
