The British Museum is hosting a pair of film series…Manga to Anime for Families (”a series of Japanese animated films for the whole family”) and Late Night Manga to Anime Film Season (”a series of feature films which have put the Japanese animated film industry on the international map”). Both series run from July through September. Both are free, but require advance booking. Here is a list of the films:

There will be a free screening of this year’s Tokyo Anime Award entries from the 6th Tokyo International Anime Fair. The awards have two main categories…Nomination Entries (for commercial works released or broadcast last year) and Public (or Open) Entries (for general entrants and students). The winner of the Nomination category was The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and the Open category winner was Flutter. The screenings will take place August 24 – 26 at the Tokyo Anime Center in the Akihabara district. They will be screened at the Center’s Akiba 3D Theater in the UDX Building. Here is a list of the films:

Akihabara has another freebie. The Tourism Industry Association of Japan is hosting “New Discovery of Akihabara“, a free tour of Akihabara in several languages including English. The 2-hour walking tour includes stops at Radio Kaikan, Electric Town, Tsukumo Robot Kingdom, and the UDX Building. At the end of the tour everyone is given a free gift. The tour is held every Saturday beginning at 1pm…tours will continue through January 19, 2008.
