Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children DVD. April 25, 2006. It will be a day long remembered…


Thanks to our great friends at twitchfilm.com, they’ve alerted me to this extremely important announcement: April 25, 2006 is the official release date for the north American DVD of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children! Here’s Sony’s official press release:

Two years have passed since the ruins of Midgar stand as a testament to the sacrifices made in order to bring peace. However, the world will soon face a new menace. A mysterious illness is spreading fast. Old enemies are astir. And Cloud, who walked away from the life of a hero to live in solitude, must step forward yet again.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will be available in widescreen presentation, has a run time of 101 minutes and is rated PG-13, and will arrive as a Special Edition DVD in a 2-disc set (SLP of $26.96) as well as UMD video for PSP (SLP of $28.96). The DVD set will be exploding with bonus materials, including a story digest, deleted scenes, a Making Of featurette, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Venice Film Festival footage and a Sneak Peek of the upcoming games in the compilation of Final Fantasy VII series.

Head on over to The Official Square-Enix Site for a few other updates, including a countdown clock (that you can’t download – sigh) for the release date. Finally – a solid release date! I was beginning to wonder when it would finally hit. I demand a Japanese voice track w/ subs!

I love anime. Specifically, series involving any of the following things: weird fantasy elements, super-powers, robots, aliens, wicked humor, crazy villains, horror, ninjas and samurai. I guess that means I like a lot of anime. I am pretty particular about the quality of animation and voice acting. If the character designs and animation quality aren't of über-quality, I quickly loose interest.The first anime-related series I ever watched was Battle of the Planets - otherwise known as Gatachman. The first true theatrical anime feature film I saw was Akira. My first exposure to manga was later in life when I read Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy.There are so many incredible elements of Japanese culture. Some of the most exciting to me are the style of design and storytelling. I'm a web designer & illustrator, and I find myself looking to Japanese design for inspiration all the time.Anime blogging has taught me even more about Japanese culture and anime than I ever expected, and I continue to learn more every week. In fact, I'd love to travel to Japan. Rachel and I hope to visit sometime within the next few years.
