I know Valentine’s Day is totally commercialized and not what it used to be, but hell, Happy Valentine’s Day!

I know Valentine’s Day is totally commercialized and not what it used to be, but hell, Happy Valentine’s Day!
David & Rachel:
According to the Korean Tourism Organization:
Diary Day – To symbolize the beginning of a new year, couples exchange yearly planners in which they mark their plans, anniversaries, birthdays and other important dates.
Kiss Day – Kiss everyone you meet on this day.
Silver Day – On this day, people exchange silver accessories.
Green Day – On this day, couples seek nature and relax while singles drink Soju to drown their loneliness.
The rest are fairly self explanatory.
Also, it appears that except for Valentine’s Day, White Day, and Black Day, these special days are not particularly popular. However, Pepero Day is quite popular…must be the candy. I suspect the instigator behind the special days was the Korean Chamber of Commerce or an equivalent group of merchants.
mochi – Thank you very much for the details regarding those days! I think Kiss Day would be the most awkward for people. ![]()
Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well
And remember guys White Day is on March 14th…
Aw…how cute! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Rae, love the v-day greeting! sooo cute! happy valentine’s day to you and Dave.
LOL, thanks mom! Can’t wait till tomorrow when the candy is 1/2 off. Only then will there be Valentine’s candy in my house. Hopefully there’ll be some left…
almost forgot…also remember April 14th is Black Day
The advance word from Rachel is that the 1/2 off Valentine’s Day candy has been released to the public. So grab up the chocolate while it’s cheap – you won’t get another chance at discount candy ’till after Easter!
Mom – Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!
mochi – Thanks for the reminder. Also, don’t forget – White Day is coming up!
David:
Valentine’s Day – a western invention
White Day – a Japanese invention
Black Day – a Korean invention
Then the Koreans decided they might as well
celebrate on the 14th of every month:
Jan. 14 Diary Day
May 14 Rose Day
June 14 Kiss Day
July 14 Silver Day
Aug. 14 Green Day
Sept. 14 Photo Day
Oct. 14 Wine Day
Nov. 14 Movie Day
Dec. 14 Hug Day
They have one more special day on Nov. 11 which is
called Pepero Day. Peperos (Korean version of Pocky)
are exchanged between couples, family, and friends.
Supposedly, the date was chosen because it
resembles Peperos (11/11).
mochi – very interesting! movie day sounds cool!
Diary Day would be either embarrassing or interesting; depends on who’s reading what…
Silver Day would be fun to dress up in lame and aluminum foil..but why wait till July? Do it now >.< !
Candy=good….go get it while you can, we’re almost at the end of American candy season!
