***UPDATE***
We’re still without power at The Anime Blog home base. We’re now in our 4th full day/5th full night. We’ll update when we can!
***END UPDATE***

Well, The Anime Blog’s homebase of St. Louis is covered in ice/snow with no power. Which means…there probably won’t be any exciting posts over the weekend. Rachel and I will probably wonder around St. Louis tomorrow and Sunday to keep warm by shopping.

strawberry marshmallow snowIt’s probably gonna be a cold night tonight – and possibly without power for the next several days! Arri is keeping warm by playing a lot, but I suspect she’ll be smothering us at night to keep warm :) .

Anyway, if anyone of you have also been affected by the weather, be careful when traveling and try to keep warm! We plan on either reading a book or re-reading some of our manga – by candlelight!

When we do get our power back, expect some exciting posts!

I love anime. Specifically, series involving any of the following things: weird fantasy elements, super-powers, robots, aliens, wicked humor, crazy villains, horror, ninjas and samurai. I guess that means I like a lot of anime. I am pretty particular about the quality of animation and voice acting. If the character designs and animation quality aren't of über-quality, I quickly loose interest. The first anime-related series I ever watched was Battle of the Planets - otherwise known as Gatachman. The first true theatrical anime feature film I saw was Akira. My first exposure to manga was later in life when I read Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy.There are so many incredible elements of Japanese culture. Some of the most exciting to me are the style of design and storytelling. I'm a web designer & illustrator, and I find myself looking to Japanese design for inspiration all the time.Anime blogging has taught me even more about Japanese culture and anime than I ever expected, and I continue to learn more every week. In fact, I'd love to travel to Japan. Rachel and I hope to visit sometime within the next few years.

EEEK! 4 days!!! Ouch. We didn’t lose our power but the roads didn’t appear to have been plowed. I was an hour late to work the other day and I left a half hour early! My ride is usually only 20 min! I hope Arri is okay. What is it with the power there? You must have crappy wiring or something. It seems like every storm knocks you out for a few days.

I really feel for you! We went one full week without power 2 years ago, with temps in the low teens. Not fun! To keep from freezing, we alternated between hotels and my parents’ house. Hopefully power will be restored soon, and everything can get back to normal. How are you keeping warm?

zingor – I hope the snow has mostly melted! Yes, Arri is ok. During the day, she slept in the sunlight on the floor. At night, she kept warm by sleeping on the bed. I don’t know what it is about the power here – I mostly blame Ameren!

Julie – Wow, a full week is a very long time. Especially in that cold! To keep warm, we mostly stayed away from home and drank coffee or went over to our friend’s house. At night, we had a kerosene heater. Thanks for the well wishes!

Thankfully – with power restored – things are almost normal!
