About CODE GEASS Lelouch of the Rebellion
On August 10th of the year 2010 the Holy Empire of Britannia began a campaign of conquest, its sights set on Japan. Operations were completed in one month thanks to Britannia’s deployment of new mobile humanoid armor vehicles dubbed Knightmare Frames. Japan’s rights and identity were stripped away, the once proud nation now referred to as Area 11. Its citizens, Elevens, are forced to scratch out a living while the Britannian aristocracy lives comfortably within their settlements.
Pockets of resistance appear throughout Area 11, working towards independence for Japan. Lelouch, an exiled Imperial Prince of Britannia posing as a student, finds himself in the heart of the ongoing conflict for the island nation. Through a chance meeting with a mysterious girl named C.C., Lelouch gains his Geass, the power of the king. Now endowed with absolute dominance over any person, Lelouch may finally realize his goal of bringing down Britannia from within!
So what do you think? Are you gonna watch it?

allready caught it subbed when it came out a year ago, both season, then rewatched it in english…
Got to say, the first season I can watch multiple times, the 2nd season is a 1 time only deal. honestly i have no clue how i was able to watch that 2nd season other than the fact that the rollercoaster ride with the wreck at the end was so brilliantly done that i got swept way. You don’t the number of times i almost fell over in shock or laughing from the sheer absurdity at some points.
Recommended to watch, but do it all in one weekend, do not giver your self time to think about it, just go along for the ride. Even now i get a headache if i try to think about all the loop holes, but man it was one heck of a ride..
Animation was done well
Music was pretty good
CLAMP is genious at art representation and character design
Story reached only half potential, should have been 3 maybe 4 seasons long…
Thanks for the mini review – I think that’s a great overview of Code Geass for people who are new to the series!
The honestly funny thing about this is I actually think the second season does get better in some respects once replay time comes around, if you try to pay attention to certain things people like you most likely don’t really care about but which are important to the story.
The loop holes as you call them aren’t the point, in short.
Came to check if the first comment was just some bit with a person whining about the show and claiming that it was absurd. Found I was right and that people are still incredibly predictable and still love going through the expected motions and stock comments for this show. Leaving now.
I think Matt’s comment was very helpful for people who haven’t seen the show. What are your thoughts about Code Geass?
I think you’re a bit too defensive (even compared to myself) but other than that I’d agree. The “in” thing is for people to fall into the same stereotypes about something and not reach any original conclusions.
It has been on Youtube for ages. Crunchyroll is behind the times. The Youtube version also has the English dubs for those who are so inclined, and the quality is higher (unless you’re a member and can watch the 480p versions).
The idea behind Crunchyroll airing Code Geass is great because they’re much more targeted towards anime fans. Youtube has so much content it’s hard for anime and other genres rise to the top.
Plus the premium level subscribers at Crunchyroll have access to large HD quality versions of Code Geass.
It is nice and all but non-paying members will get a lq version. There are still issues with licensing for some countries.
On the other hand, it’s good that they acquire more and more titles. In a year or two it might bewise to buy subscription there.
Yeah, I think you’re right. Hopefully they’ll get a huge amount of traffic so more advertisers jump on board – ’cause then they’ll post a lot more.
YouTube just launched its new “licensed show” channel and has a small section for Anime. Code Geass is also included.
YouTube also updated their movies and television sections. Check it out:

I’ve been watching Code Geass on Adult Swim and I kind of agree with Matt. Where I really enjoyed the first season, the second season has been too rushed. It would have flowed better if the writers spaced out the events from the second season over the course of a second and third one. And, yes, CLAMP’s character designs are amazing.
CLAMP’s consistently amazing character designs always amazes me!
Rushed doesn’t mean “bad” or that you shouldn’t think about them though, but I suppose it’s hard to ask that from some people once they fall into the same motions.
Don’t forget about all the free episodes on FUNimation.com/video
There’s over 1000 free episodes available.
=)
Funimation Video certainly offers a huge amount of great anime. Thanks for the link! I’ve added it to our Watch Anime Online (Legally) page.
