I was exposed to anime as a child while living in Germany after watching the Japanese version of Hans Christian Anderson’s the Little Mermaid. In high school, a classmate in art brought in Akira as an example of Japanese art. I wasn’t very impressed with anime at the time, but my re-exposure to it in 2000 thanks to Escaflowne had me hooked for life. After sorting out what I liked about anime (great stories, beautiful animation and epic battles) and disliked about anime (big boobs, angst-y 15 year-old kids, most mecha, sports stories and style-over-substance), I got into it with a vengeance.I do love almost all aspects of Japanese culture and try to be involved with it as much as possible. I have no problem admitting that I incorporate a lot of Japanese trends and traditions into my life as I modify them and make them my own. Anime is a big part of that, along with all the sub-cultures, past and present.

why dontt you watch for example a classic like Hokuto No Ken(the very first shounen made, and its still the best,it was made in 1983 or so to say even before the first dragon ball) or watch samurai deeper kyo

@xsabin, I will get to the classics someday, I’m working on it, for now I have to take the bullet so others may spare their precious free time from being slaughtered by series like this.

i recommend you to see hokuto no ken if you dont mind long series(200 episodes) but its a really great series, better than sailor moon who has the same number of eps.(Kenshiro=MOST BADASS ANIME CHARACTER EVER),the only problem is the villains fights, most of them dont even take one episode(not common to shounen as it takes some episodes to finish them but the battles are quick for example Kenshiro vs Shin was only one episode and he was the first principal villain)
ps:the thing i have problems with is that the villains are somehow more human that the very hero, for example one of them only died because he didnt want to kill a wowan which would have made him more powerful(he would have defeated Kenshiro if he had just killed the wowan)

i have a question, does the serie have really that much filler
ps:here is one of my favorite parts of the anime hokuto no ken(in movie)

@xsabin, yes, the anime is basically a landfill of bad ideas and poorly designed characters.
