The cool thing about Domo’s appearance at Target is that they’re acknowledging his Japanese roots:

Domo’s World Screamiere – Domo first made the scene in Japan, where his TV-fueled imagination led him into tricky situations. Now he’s arrive at Target with an exclusive short episode and tons of fright-night fun.

There’s also a special original Domo short that was created specifically for Target.

“That’s really just a rumor,” Levitt told MTV at the Toronto Film Festival, adding, “that just goes to show what you can believe about what people write about movies.” Levitt says that the “loves” the original movie but as far as he knows there isn’t even a script for the film yet.

And don’t get me started on how hard it is to search the library catalog. There are a few manga titles in the ‘young adult graphic novels’ section, but most of them are in the Science Fiction isles.

It’s kinda weird when you’re looking through classic sci-fi authors and suddenly there are a few copies of the Saiuki manga.

Cowboy Bebop

Ok, so the other day I mentioned the Cowboy Bebop Live Action Movie that’s apparently in the works. Well, since then I’ve found a few other articles about the announcement:

…Stoff goes on to explain his enthusiasm for the project and their attempts to remain faithful. “I have such an enormous admiration for its creators, that our first and foremost concern is going to be a real degree of faithfulness to the tone of the movie, to the mix of genres, and so on and so forth. When I met with them in Japan, one of the first things that I brought up was the experience that we had on A Scanner Darkly, and how hard we worked to remain faithful to Philip K. Dick, and that was our big concern here.” Don’t get confused, this does not mean that they’re going for a similar animated look like A Scanner Darkly, as he explicitly said that it’s going to be live-action.

Rumor: Keanu Reeves as Spike in Cowboy Bebop Movie?!

However, a good friend inside the industry who is a very reliable source wrote in to tell me that the film is being fast tracked inside the studio and will most likely be out by 2010. He also revealed that Keanu Reeves has been attached as the lead character Spike for over eight months now and is still set for the role.

I suddenly had a feeling of deja vu when I read that. So what do you think? Could Keanu Reeves cut it as Spike?

VIZ Media is stepping up their presence in Hollywood:

Based in Hollywood, VIZ Prods. will be run by Jason Hoffs, a former production exec at Amblin and DreamWorks, who most recently had his own producing deal at Sony.

VIZ effort is another recent example of publishers, from the New York Times to vidgame companies such Capcom, becoming proactive in exploiting film projects hatched from their content.

“Properties like ‘Naruto,’ ‘Bleach,’ ‘Death Note,’ ‘Vampire Knight’ and ‘Monster’ are just a few properties that show the massive appeal of manga to many different demographics, and we have an almost endless pool of titles to draw from,” Hoffs said.

Since this year’s attendance was estimated at 43,000, about 1,300 more attendees than last year, the location must not have scared away as many fans away as initially thought. We were unable to attend this past Anime Expo, so we weren’t able to catch what the new digs were like in person.

For those who did a get a chance to go, here’s your chance to air your opinion on what you think of the new Anime Expo location. Was it better or worse than Anaheim or Long Beach? How was the shuttle service? What did you think of the actual building? How easy was it to go from your hotel to the convention center? How safe did you feel?
