Just some update on the brazilian preliminary. It’ll happen on June, 21st in São Paulo, during the celebrations for the centenary of japanese immigration to Brazil.

Also, you may want to read some interviews we did:

    - Damien and Isabelle (winners of WCS 2007)
    - Sonnya and Renee (US representatives for 2008)
    - Lisa and Liuwina (Denmark representatives for 2008)

All interviews can be read here (in english or portuguese): http://www.cosplayers.net/content/index.php/en/world-cosplay-summit/

I’m not linking to them individually due to the restriction of up to three links per comment.

Also, you may want to take a look on our WCS 2008 page, which links to videos of the performance of all representatives already choosen.

    @Remy

Thank you for the information and links. I had to keep my research abbreviated since other matters (professional and personal) have been keeping me occupied…so any additional info is much appreciated.

I’m following the news about the WCS because of our website.

A little bit more information on the Japanese and brazilian preliminaries:

In Japan there will be 2 preliminaries, each one choosing one duo that will represent Japan.

The first one will happen in Tokyo on May 18th, at Cosplay Festa at Tokyo Dome City. The winners of this preliminary will be awarded a Brother professional sewing machine.

The seconde japanese preliminary will happen in Osaka, on July 13th, at Cosplayers Jam @ World Cosplay Summit 2008, which happens at the Kyocera Dome Osaka.

Now regarding Brazil. Here we have 13 “pre-preliminaries” rounds, each one happening in a different convention throughout the country. The winners of these 13 rounds, plus last year’s representatives plus another team selected via internet amongst the 13 second places on the other rounds will compete in a national finals, which will then choose our representatives.

This totalizes 15 duos that will compete on June 21st in São Paulo, during the celebrations of the Centenary of Japanese Immigration.

You can see the teams already classified for our national finals here: http://www.cosplayers.net/content/index.php/world-cosplay-summit/wcs-2008-etapa-jbc-brasil.html

    Hope it helps.

We’re doing a cosplay event in brunei soon… but that’s if we get approvals from the Brunei Home Affairs and the Pusat Dakwah Islamiah.

Cosplay is actually flagged as inappropriate due to… skin exposure. As you know, the MIB thing.

Contact us through i_cosplay@yahoo.com or troll our blog at i-cosplay.blogspot.com. It’s under construction though. We don’t want to take it too far if our project is not approved.

And by the way, we’re collaborating with the Brunei DeviantArt 2008 this december. :3
