I do love almost all aspects of Japanese culture and try to be involved with it as much as possible. I have no problem admitting that I incorporate a lot of Japanese trends and traditions into my life as I modify them and make them my own. Anime is a big part of that, along with all the sub-cultures, past and present.

    @Cliff, so glad you like the comprehensive posts! I’m trying my best to make these Japanese recipes as accessible to the West as I can. Anyone can make these guys and yes, daifuku is coming up next. As to when, I’m burnt out on mochiko right now @_@, lol.

    Haha, I can wait. But I can see how hard for some people to get some of the ingredients for Japanese cooking. Lucky for me I live in California where there is several different Asian groccery stores for my shopping needs.

    Lol I think my family is burnt out on Dango since I like make it everyother day XP

    @Jane, you should definitely try the hanami dango! It’s a lot of fun to make and eat.

    I tried making mochi batter from a recipe from another site first. It was for Ice cream mochi. if any one has seen this recipe don’t use sorbet ice cream…. melts too quickly. and the dough was not what I thought It should be. I think it needed more mochiko >.< I’ll try the thingys latter their in the freezer.

    omg godness if there is one thing i love more than any desert its dango. im am totally in love with it. if i had to choose better a life time or dango or you soul u would be one unlucky person. well thas all i have too say im gladd someone likes like i do…i was serious about your soul. :3

    good god i havent seen a betta peace of art in along time……reallly seriousbout that if i was a critic id saay that it well dressed and fits the common purpose of the related dango dishes like satsuki say you or dango….that dango

    hey great job! its a little hard to find mochiko though, anyone have any tips on where to find it? every time i go into wegmans and ask they look at me like im crazy XD

    thanks for the topic! i really understand about the “mysteries of dango” *grin*

    BTW, while reading this, I noticed that the way dango was made and cooked was VERY similar to how “palitaw” / “inday-inday” (native food) was made and cook – and also served in festivals too! ^^. There are similar in ingredients – only that “palitaw” uses “mascobado” (brown sugar) as dippings/toppings.
