I visited East-East Oriental Grocery the other day and then went straight to Olive Farmer’s Market. I realized afterwards that EE would probably be a better bet to get traditional anime snacks than at Olive Farmer’s Market. I hadn’t thought too much about it before since I’m not a huge fan of Pocky, Hi-chew and other mainstays popular with fans right now.
I myself like cracker nuts and rice crackers and David likes the mochi, which we usually get at OFM. Olive Farmer’s Market does have Pocky and Hi-chew and Lotte, Kasugai, and mochi but East-East has a really good selection of Pocky, cracker nuts, and Hi-Chew, etc. After seeing both stores snack sections that day I just had to say that East-East on Olive in U-City will probably treat traditional snack seekers better than OFM which although has a ton o’ stuff, doesn’t have as much selection of anime snacks as EE.
So, for me Olive Farmer’s Market is an Asian food paradise since I cook a ton of Japanese and Chinese food but maybe not so much for all you out there wanting to taste but not necessarily make Japanese flavors.
