I was exposed to anime as a child while living in Germany after watching the Japanese version of Hans Christian Anderson’s the Little Mermaid. In high school, a classmate in art brought in Akira as an example of Japanese art. I wasn’t very impressed with anime at the time, but my re-exposure to it in 2000 thanks to Escaflowne had me hooked for life. After sorting out what I liked about anime (great stories, beautiful animation and epic battles) and disliked about anime (big boobs, angst-y 15 year-old kids, most mecha, sports stories and style-over-substance), I got into it with a vengeance.I do love almost all aspects of Japanese culture and try to be involved with it as much as possible. I have no problem admitting that I incorporate a lot of Japanese trends and traditions into my life as I modify them and make them my own. Anime is a big part of that, along with all the sub-cultures, past and present.

    Whoa! Looks delicious!
I’m definitely going to see if my local Ranch 99 store has it(My own source of Pocky and Ramune).

Apart from the taste, I hope it’s healthy(or at least not a complete junk food), should check the nutrition facts…

The name sounds questionable but your review makes them sound great! I haven’t seen them yet but I’ll keep my eye out for them.

@Piroko, They’re not complete junk food, believe me. One of the reason’s I like Japanese snacks is because they have some saving graces in the way of the ingredients, i.e. beans, soy, fish, as opposed to wheat, pork rinds and dairy. Japanese snacks are still caloric, but they don’t taste as heavy as American junk foods.

@Caitlin, I agree, the name is quite dubious. They’re not really too pizza-y, but they’re still really tasty, if a bit weird. IN other words, it’s totally Japanese!

These pizza beans sound wonderful. Now we just need Dominos to make a version of them to get the delivered to your door.
