I do love almost all aspects of Japanese culture and try to be involved with it as much as possible. I have no problem admitting that I incorporate a lot of Japanese trends and traditions into my life as I modify them and make them my own. Anime is a big part of that, along with all the sub-cultures, past and present.

despite the pitfalls I still had to buy it. I did not expect the manga to deviate from the anime.

No, there’s no anime to this book. lol I believe that’s b/c this volume wasn’t that “important” within the Vampire Hunter D universe. Sure, there were things here and there that were quite important to know (very shallow info on D’s heritage), but those things were imbedded into the 2nd movie VHD: Bloodlust. I enjoy every little detail of the VHD universe (release volume 13!) but even though volume 2 is good (novel & manga), it’s not as good as volume 1 & 3. Again, I believe that’s why vol. 1 & 3 were adapted into movies. But hey, this is just all my opinion. XD

I can’t wait for Vol. 3 of the manga (May 29th! w00t!) I wonder if it’ll be closer to the book, or closer to the movie. Hopefully the book b/c the book was way more….um….brutal. :D (the movie was quite different, but still extremely awesome). Sorry for the ramble!
