Omikoshi
A deity or kami, supposedly lives in the omikoshi. This particular omikoshi was handcrafted by the Japanese head of Purina over in Japan. His last name was Urushi; an apt name as the word is also the Japanese word for lacquer.
Here’s a fun fact: the lacquer that coats most Japanese lacquer ware is actually the resin from the poison ivy plant. And we all thought it had no purpose on the planet…When all was said and done, this omikoshi cost $30,000 to make!
