I just finished watching Geneon’s Black Lagoon Volume Two. Earlier, I compared the series to the 80’s television show ‘The A-Team’. I’m revising that comparison after finishing this volume. It’s here that the show moves a little bit away from action and starts to find its heart. The good news is that there’s still lots of action. There are also skeletons – lots of ‘em. Oh, and several gun battles. Also, Revy draws her gun on a nun.

There’s also a nun with an eye patch, but you’ll just have to check it out. On to the episodes!

Episode #5: Eagle Hunting & Hunting Eagles

A continuation of the WWII-era Nazi submarine story, this episode finds our ‘heroes’ aboard the sunken sub trying to find the missing painting they’re after. This starts a pretty intense story arc involving Revy and Rock that continues throughout the rest of the volume.

Episode #6: Moonlit Hunting Grounds
This episode gets pretty dark, as we see Revy in full-blown Terminator mode. Seriously. Is that girl about anything other than kill-kill-kill? You’ll have to watch and find out!
Be on the lookout for almost as much bloodshed as Hellsing: Ultimate in this episode.

Episode #7: Calm Down, Two Men

Wow. This episode features the most intense moment between Revy and Rock! Also, the Russian mob thing I was complaining about in my volume one review seems to have gotten better. Cool!

Episode #8: Rasta Blasta

Now this episode really got my attention. Featuring a no-nonsense, non-moe maid, I started to get a real ‘oh crap this is gonna be cool’ feeling with this one.

Overall, Black Lagoon volume two showed me that the series really has legs that stretch past the first few episodes. Can’t wait to see more (which might be difficult).
