I’ve been selling back old manga series and using the resulting money on new stuff. I get less money back for my manga, but I’m not spending any “new” money. I’m only keeping series that I *really* love and want to read again and again.

I’m also checking out more scanlations (not anything that’s been licensed in the U.S. or that I don’t purchase anyway) and online video on Hulu, Funimation and other legal sites. I’m also using the Netflix subscription my sister got my husband and I for Christmas to watch anime.

Lastly, if I wasn’t so busy with school and work, I’m sure I’d be checking out more stuff at our local library, especially older manga series.

I have found myself cutting back on buying new anime as well, the only DVDs I buy are the Death Note DVDs with the LE figurines, and I can’t pass them up (I can’t wait until the final volume comes out next month..whew!).

As for manga, I haven’t purchased a lot of manga as I did a year ago. There’s a few new releases I need to get, but it can wait, especially since most of the series I’m into have started to coincide with the anime, forcing me to put off the reading the paper equivalent.

I’ve been spending about the same amount on anime and manga. Unfortunately, it’s pretty much been on credit though. I guess that’s why I haven’t really slowed down. But in the past few months, I’ve reduced the amount of new series I’ve been getting into. I’ll do one maybe two anime series at a time instead of 4 or 5. And instead of buying multiple volumes of multiple manga, I’m sticking with one until I’m caught up and then I’ll switch over.

I guess Rightstuf helps a lot since the manga there gets REALLY cheap (anime not so much. I work retail and my discount comes out to be the same as rightstuf’s prices). But I guess you can say Rightstuf hurts alot because things are so cheap. And I figure it’s best to save now.

My spending habits are already bad. Manga & anime only makes it worse. lol

Oh, man, I hope I’m not the only one that ends up voting for “I’ve sold my anime/manga library to pay for food/rent/gas” because it’s depressing and misery loves company.

Obviously, I’ve not sold everything, but the manga I don’t read as much anymore and don’t foresee seriously rereading soon has been sold off. It’s always hard because no it will only ever sell for low, low prices, but it seems to be worth so much more to me. T_T I’m eyeing my modest figure collection now. I gotta pay for tuition and food somehow. Bawww.

I spent less in anime and manga because of several reasons:
1- The Stronger Yen against the dollar makes my wallet lose force.
2- No Salary raise for me this year
3- My customers just doesnt pay debts in time
4- My family doesnt approve my purchases

I am only using about 10% of my salary for anime guilty pleasures now. Before it was 50%
