Anime fans, this week was absolutely stacked. We've got a mysterious Naruto announcement, Demon Slayer breaking more records on Netflix, a beloved JRPG streaming free on YouTube, and a revenge-driven rooster about to take over your weekend. We broke all of it down on the latest episode of Anime Goes Audio (https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/anime-goes-audio--5373149), presented by TheAnimeBlog.com, and here's the written version for everyone who likes to read their news.

Naruto Is Getting a New "Limited" TV Anime Series

VIZ Media announced on September 28th that Naruto is getting a brand new, quote, "limited" TV anime series, with the full reveal coming this Saturday, October 10th, at New York Comic Con on a panel literally called "NARUTO: What's Next?"

The word "limited" is doing some extremely heavy lifting here, because this is the franchise that gave us 220 episodes followed by 500 episodes. The panel s

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Lands on Netflix

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, the first film of the final trilogy, landed on Netflix in the United States on September 28th. This is the highest-grossing anime f

Seirei Gensouki Gets Season 3

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles is getting a third season, announced September 30th during the HJ Bunko livestream. No date or staff details yet, just the promise.

Season 2 aired back in 2024, and author Yuri Kitayama wrote a whole message thanking overseas fans for keeping the support alive. A Crunchyroll-streamed isekai earning a third season on pure fan momentum. The people wanted it, and the people got it.

Quick Hits

One to Watch: Rooster Fighter

Our pick for the week is easy. Rooster Fighter premieres this Saturday, October 10th, on Netflix, twelve episodes with an English dub included.

Keiji is a revenge-driven battle rooster hunting the White Demon. That sentence is the whole pitch and it's perfect. But this isn't just a meme premise: it's directed by Daisuke Suzuki, with series composition by Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan), full 3DCG from Sanzigen, and Patrick Seitz voicing Keiji in English. Prestige poultry.

It premiered in Japan and on Adult Swim back in April, so the early adopters have been gatekeeping it for six months. The gatekeeping era is over. The rooster belongs to everyone now.

Our verdict, the same one we gave on the podcast: Rooster Fighter is the most gloriously unhinged premiere of the fall, and Keiji has more main-character energy than half the isekai protagonists this season combined.

A few more stories from this week:

The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom premiered October 3rd, and Prime Video launched it the same day with a full English dub. Day-one dub treatment for a shoujo fantasy romance is a quiet streaming milestone. A brand new Sgt. Frog TV anime debuted October 3rd and is streaming on Crunchyroll, completing the franchise's full revival after June's 20th anniversary film.

The Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki light novels end with volume 12 on October 16th, and here's the remarkable part: the publisher had greenlit volumes 13 and 14, and author Yuki Yaku said no, ending the 10-plus-year series on his own terms. Rare integrity move. Now the fandom's full-time job is campaigning for anime season 3.

My Happy Marriage special episodes finally have a date: October 25th on Netflix, with a first-look trailer out now. And Mission: Yozakura Family season 2, cour 2, returns October 11th with new cast reveals. A Shonen Jump series quietly grinding while the bigger franchises hog the oxygen. Respect the grind.

Curious why reaction videos blow up the way they do? We wrote about that too: Anime Streams Are Very Popular (https://www.theanimeblog.com/post/anime-streams-are-very-popular-why-you-might-like-them-twitch-and-tiktok).

Suikoden Streams Free on YouTube Starting Tomorrow

Here's the coolest distribution story of the week. Suikoden: The Anime starts streaming completely free on YouTube with English subtitles tomorrow, October 6th, with new episodes every Tuesday. Legal, free, no subscription. The piracy websites are furious.

It's an adaptation of Suikoden II, the most beloved PlayStation One JRPG, produced by Konami's own animation studio. The 60-minute premiere dropped October 3rd, and it's a two-cour run going through March 2027. The cast is stacked: Toshiki Kumagai, Shimba Tsuchiya, Yuichi Nakamura, Katsuyuki Konishi, Megumi Han, and Miyuki Sawashiro.

We went full spoiler mode on the premiere in this week's Anime Goes Audio episode (https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/anime-goes-audio--5373149). Short version: fans went in braced for disappointment and came out impressed. The music, with Koji Nakamura reworking Miki Higashino's original game score, is doing serious heavy lifting, and Luca Blight is immediately, gloriously hateable. Our verdict: appointment viewing, every Tuesday, free on YouTube. No excuses.ilm of all time at roughly $794 million worldwide, which also makes it the highest-grossing Japanese film ever, beating Mugen Train. Demon Slayer just keeps beating itself at the box office.

It was a Crunchyroll digital exclusive back in July, so this is the Netflix subscriber base finally getting their turn. Somewhere out there, a person who has never heard of Demon Slayer is about to have the most intense two and a half hours of their life because they clicked a thumbnail.

The elephant in the room: those four 20th anniversary episodes announced in 2023, delayed a week before airing for "quality improvement," and never seen since. Nobody will confirm whether this new project is the rescued anniversary episodes, a seasonal remake of the early arcs, or brand new 25th anniversary content. TV Tokyo's CEO is already calling 2027 "the beginning of a new stage" for Naruto, and with a global card game launching in 2027 plus Lionsgate's live-action film in the works, this looks like phase one of a whole new Naruto decade. We'll have the full fallout from the panel on next week's episode.treams worldwide on the official Naruto and Boruto YouTube channel at 5 p.m. Eastern, with Junko Takeuchi (Naruto) and Noriaki Sugiyama (Sasuke) appearing in person alongside a Studio Pierrot executive producer. October 10th is also Naruto's canon birthday, which is either showmanship or emotional manipulation. Possibly both.
